So while I was going over paperwork with my son about this pharmacy assistant training he is interested in I found out technically you do not need it to get a job in a local pharmacy. This bothered me so much, because it makes him think he is wasting his time going to these classes. When I think it is just the opposite as a matter of fact. I want him to go to these classes and get the training he needs to be a great asset to the community. I think personally they should not have a job in a pharmacy with some sort of teaching or certification encompassing his name.
It makes me wonder how many people are currently working at my local pharmacy filling my prescriptions with no degree. I think next time I go there, I might just ask. I think it is my right as a consumer to know who is handling my medication and if they are fully qualified or not. I wonder if they would tell me if they were not certified. I would think that they are obligated to tell me whether they are or not. And I know they can not tell me they are, when they are not.
When I talked to my wife about this, she was quick to tell me not to step on toes and to just let it be. She said they are obviously capable of doing their job and she is sure they attended some sort of pharmacy assistant training, otherwise they would not be working there in the first place. I have to take my wife and her opinion into account because she is in the pharmacy quite often and I do not want her treated unkindly because her husband has a big mouth. I am just going to sign my son’s paperwork and let it go for now.
